Appearance

Ookami is approximately six feet in height, with deep brown eyes, and shoulder-length hair of a dark reddish-brown. His tail is almost the same color as his hair, with slightly less of a red tint. His upper body is exceptionally well-muscled even for a fighting Saiyan thanks to years of blacksmithing, and he bears the usual profusion of old battle scars from a lifetime of fighting. He tends to wear rugged but casual clothes suited to his constant roaming - jeans, hiking boots, and T-shirts, topped with a battered black leather jacket when the weather merits it. Most of the time, he wears his weapons prominently - a huge broadsword across his back, and a whip that appears to be made of liquid metal coiled at his hip.

Powers

The entirety of Ookami's combat style centers around his unique signature weapon. Nishikihebi is an enormous, tremendously heavy broadsword - approximately five feet from blade tip to pommel, with a single-handed grip. A release mechanism allows the blade to separate into ten segments, held together with a stream of ki, and the sword becomes a bladed whip approximately fifteen feet in length. He has demonstrated an exceptionally powerful ability to repel ki blasts with the weapon, on more than one occasion smacking dangerously strong bodies of energy back at their originators. Additionally, like so many other Saiyans nowadays, Ookami has ascended to Super Saiyan and mastered the ability to utilize that transformation at will.

Biography

Ookami Yamashima was born on Earth. His mother, Suika Inoshi, was a young, beautiful Saiyaness of a wealthy family, and his father was not Suika's husband. The entire family was uprooted and moved to New Vegeta immediately after its founding, and Ookami learned at a young age of his origins, when his mother gave birth to a baby girl named Nashi very shortly after their arrival. Violent brawls erupted between Suika and her husband, an elderly warrior named Hakusai Yamashima, when Hakusai accused his wife of further infidelity. The family was torn apart when Ookami was but eight years of age: the man he thought of as his father even though he knew otherwise took Ookami's two-year-old baby sister and left the planet. The two were subsequently assumed to have been killed when their tiny ship was destroyed by a collision in New Vegeta's ice ring.

After her husband's death Ookami's mother remarried, this time to the boy's biological father. While the man was handsome, and a strong fighter, he was brutal and filled with spite toward the man who had removed Suika from Earth. Ookami became the target of this spite, primarily because he insisted on wielding the Yamashima family weapon, the whip, instead of his father's "more manly" choice of the broadsword. The reamining years of his childhood were filled with vicious training, terrible beatings, and constant derision - just the kind of thing that was supposed to make a Saiyan strong. And it did: Ookami became a great and powerful fighter, but he held a quiet grudge against his father that only grew with time. He bore no hatred for his mother, only a degree of pity and contempt for her choices in life, and in fact, he had great respect for her ability as a weaponsmith, a craft that he learned from her as the years passed by.

Upon reaching the age of seventeen, Ookami gathered his belongings, took the money he'd made selling the weapons he crafted, and left New Vegeta. His search, he would have said at the time, was for the perfect materials and the perfect forge, someplace where he could perfect his craft. The first years of his travels, however, involved very little searching and a great deal of youthful violence from this Saiyan with a wealth of suppressed rage. He travelled from planet to planet, leaving a few bar-brawl deaths and impassioned killings of rivals in his wake. About a year into his travels, during one of those brawls, he met a young woman who could take all the abuse he could dish out, and whose past was as checkered as his own - and another Saiyan to boot. Her name was Kainatsu Nuaichi, the daughter of an old miner turned notorious pirate. The Saiyaness was chasing her father, and Ookami was chasing his forge, so the two took to travelling together. They remained together as partners and lovers for about ten years, and in spite of her own temperament, her presence was a settling influence for Ookami. While he still fought, the years made him less likely to kill, and made him more reflective on his own past.

In time, when he and Kainatsu split, Ookami returned home, taking from the experience a new appreciation for family and a wish to patch things up with his mother. It was not to be, however. His father's brutality and spite had only sharpened over the years, and in an incident which Ookami does not discuss, he achieved his first ascension to Super Saiyan and killed his father with the first prototype of Nishikihebi. Telling his mother only that there had been an accident while training, he once again left New Vegeta and resumed wandering the galaxy in the wake of his father's death. For eight years now, he has not spoken to his mother, nor has he returned to his childhood home. He did, however, return to the planet where he was born, coming to Earth just as the events of Etiquette of Reform were coming into full swing.

While exploring the mountains near Central Capital, in particular a mountain where his equipment located rich geologic deposits, he stumbled over what seemed to be an abandoned home in a mountainside cavern. It wasn't long at all before a tall, red-haired Saiyaness appeared on the scene, demanding that he leave her home. Although he was vastly overpowered by the woman, Ookami responded in kind to the challenge, and was stunned when she produced a whip for the ensuing fight, and then announced her name - Nashi Yamashima, his long-lost baby sister. He disbelieved at first, of course, but the woman proved her claim when she demonstrated the technique that Ookami had only ever seen one man use - a powerful ki-bladed whip strike that was a Yamashima family signature. It took time for the two to get to know one another, but Ookami keeps a close watch over his sister even though she outpowers him by a vast degree.

Along the way he met a strange human woman named Julia Starfire who claimed to be part dragon, and the two became close, spending a great deal of time sparring and roaming together. It didn't stop Ookami's wandering ways, but he does tend to look at home as wherever he finds Julia. As well, a chance meeting in a bar turned into a reunion with his old partner, Kainatsu. Ookami spends a good deal of his time on the road and in the wilds, but he spends most of the time that he's not travelling with Julia, his infant niece Sarah, and his sister Nashi... though there are the occasional visits to Kainatsu and her girlfriend.

Most recently, Ookami has learned from his sister how to wield a real whip, and he hopes to work his way up through the grueling steps of training to learn the family technique. He participated in the 2006 Tenkaichi Budoukai, and was quite confident when he came face to face with his sister's other prominent student Tamanegi Niyama, a young halfbreed. His confidence turned to astonishment when the young halfbreed dealt him a crushing defeat.

Like his mother before him, Ookami is a weaponsmith, and when he is not wandering the world looking for raw materials, he is most often found working at his forge, located on the grounds of the Schmidt Dojo.
