Birthplace: Cabal of Seasons

Appearance

Nothing much is known of Master Winter's physical appearance, other than he looks to be a tall human male. His body is always shrouded by a heavy cloak, the hood always impeding anyone from looking inside. The cloak is made of midnight, and it is said that anyone who stares into his face with fear will be doomed to an eternity of chill. None has heard his actual voice, except during the casting of his powerful magics.

On the flip side, Von Krystraat tends to masquerade as a lesser mage in the House of Winter, and his true form comes out from under the heavy robes. A tall lanky man with raven black hair that shimmers like moonlight, eyes that glow of the stars, and the pale skin of a person who has spent his entire life either indoors, or under heavy robes.

Powers

Durin Von Krystraat is the most prolific Winter mage known to the planet Earth. His powers include the manipulation of extreme cold and ice, summoning of spirits, and a variety of winter based magical techniques. He can commit slight-of hand magery, as well as pummel down cities if he so chose, but contains himself for the purposes of the Cabal.

His psionic powerlevel is used in limited telekenesis, telepathy and telepathic speech, and is not at all used in combat situations.

Biography

...All around me darkness gathers, Fading is the sun that shone; We must speak of other matters: You can be me when I'm gone...

Master Winter grew from childhood in the Cabal of Seasons, he has known little else but magic and the applications and retentions of such things. His rise through the ranks of the House of Winter was as natural as his rise in height, the magic he posessed creating tapestries of possibilities for the Cabal and himself within it. When he was naught a teenager, his parents, both minor mages themselves, died in some shady dealings, and Von Krystraat became a ward of the Cabal. After the unfortunate incident, Von Krystraat threw himself into magic with more fervour than any other around him, his own talents turning darker, more refined in their fierce and mystic power.

Von Krystraat holds the rest of humanity in contempt, fearful of what they would do if given access to the Cabal's wide knowledge base. His skepticism led to a fascination, as well, which is why he dresses down to take on the aura of a low-level initiate and speak with the other mages in Winter, very rarely going to the outside world.

"If the city was dreaming," he told me, "then the city is asleep. And I do not fear cities sleeping, stretched out unconscious around their rivers and estuaries, like cats in the moonlight. Sleeping cities are tame and harmless things. What I fear," he said, "is that one day the cities will waken. That one day the cities will rise."
