Appearance

Vandrende's appearance is not notable, but is memorable. Unlike the more recent lines of android frames designed by the Lost, his own frame is, as he affectionately calls it, 'an oldie and a goldie.' More often than not, his unusual, aesthetically-indulgent uniform is actually part of his body, giving it a seamless appearance. This is done solely for the practicality of it; the android's nanorepair system can fully restore him on a cosmetic level within minutes, but cannot do the same for a uniform that he's wearing.

Though more noticeably android than his peers, Van is not so robotic that he'd appear out of place in society. A mop of ashy-blond hair decorates his head, accentuating his boyish facial features and light build. Though apparently on the small side, the android is actually quite heavy, weighing a solid 350+ pounds.

Powers

Given that Van's shell was designed to fill a light infantry role, his fighting style remains flexible and well rounded, though he is also able to exceed his limits should the need arise. His main mode of engagement is hand-to-hand fighting, with a small number of weapons systems integrated into his frame to to facilitate any gaps in his defensive or offensive game.

His most powerful weapon is his right arm itself; housed within the upper arm is a 20mm depleted uranium shell. The arm is able to lock itself rigid after the delivery of a blow, then discharge the shell, which creates a considerable amount of hydraulic shock. When transferred into the target, this is often enough to rattle them quite badly. Other notable systems include the overdrive booster built into Van's gravitonic genorator, which allows for blazingly-fast line-of-sight movement, and the Killswitch, a derivitave of the Breach Capacitors protocol that most other Lost employ.

Biography

Van is a soldier. Unlike his current commander, Trance, he is not the result of an interdimensional abduction. Rather, he willingly sacrificed one life to gain another. Though his lighthearted and easygoing manner would not make it evident, Van is a prideful man, and enlisted into the military in an attempt to protect the Lost's civilization from its eventual end.

Vandrende was lost on the same mission that claimed his wingman Kunstig Sinn. The same light lance that destroyed her battlestation aboard their cruiser, The Catoblepas, swept back into his own, dealing extensive damage. When the hull was ruptured, he was ripped through the puncture and cast into space, though unlike his unfortunate comrade, he did not float freely. The battle had begun within the reach of Meridia's orbit, Meridia being a hospitable planet with no intelligent life having developed insofar. Once the battle was lost, his critically-damaged body went unrecovered as well, falling to the planet's surface. The impact finished what his steep fall through the atmosphere began, and by now the damage was beyond his older frame's ability to self-repair. He slept, buried for eight-hundred years before being discovered by Christian Sparda.

During his slumber, Meridia had produced a race of hyper-intelligent humanoids, with technology only a few centuries removed from what the Lost themself had achieved. Sparda was able to restore the husk he'd discovered, at least to the point where Vandrende's frame could complete the last leg of its journey. Once caught up on current events, he considered what purpose his life might now serve, and decided that his first course of action should have been locating ARCHIE III.

Along with Sparda, he traveled the star systems for a little over six years, though given the relatavistic nature of their faster-than-light travel, far more time than just that had actually passed. It was roughly a thousand years later when he made contact, first with Earth, then with ARCHIE itself.

Presently, he is employed as a peacekeeper, working closely with Cardinalian police forces to handle minor power-wielder threats.
