Special Adept Forces/War Skills

One of the primary characteristics of an experienced SAF member is their flexibility in duties, represented by which war skills they have mastered. This acts as, essentially, a second form of rank for them, as those with significant skill in these specializations will often take leading roles even where normal rank might suggest otherwise.

War Skills

As suits a powered military, the SAF only recognizes as war skills those abilities which are also powered in nature. While the unpowered military recognizes skills such as welding, for instance, as an important logistic support skill, the SAF does not recognize it as one of their special war skills.

Upon achieving a war skill, a SAF member will be awarded a Specialist title to match it, with a grade attached to it to denote their relative skill and power in its use. This is often linked to the tier of power which they can bring to bear with it -- typically a Tier 2 fighter, for instance, will have Specialist ranks of the second grade, although there are exceptions when they are skilled beyond their raw power.

Available War Skills

  • Demolitions Specialist:
  • Field Command Specialist:
  • Hazardous Materials Specialist: While trained to handle dangerous materials like biotoxins and radioactive material, SAF HAZMAT Specialists are also trained to handle and dispose of dangerous powered-grade artifacts, regardless of power type.
  • Intelligence Specialist:
  • Interdiction Specialist: These Specialists have proven themselves able to defeat techniques of supernatural movement, such as teleportation. It is their duty to lock down the field of battle, denying enemy retreat and reinforcements alike.
  • Insurgency Specialist:
  • Logistics Specialist: These members of the SAF ensure the proper supply and movement abilities of its Forces, typically by learning ways to rapidly move large quantities of people and goods between points, often near-instantaneously. They are extremely useful for Force deployment.
  • Training Specialist: Among the SAF, one of the most important roles is not that of warrior, but of teacher. Being able to effectively improve other members of the fighting force is extremely important to the SAF, and this rank recognizes that. (Typically requires Official Teacher status.)
