Animal Lover: Given her reclusive nature, Shyla feels more at home around animals than people. Perhaps as a byproduct of her nature as a Focus of Earth, she is never seen as a threat or food source by any animal no matter how aggressive or territorial it would normally be. This 'skill' has become a great boon to her considering her profession as a veterinarian.

Vocalist: Though she only performs for her animal friends and would sooner die than be placed in front of a large crowd, Shyla is a talented singer. Those who have managed to overhear her singing when she is unaware she has an audience have commented that a bit of formal instruction could make her into a star, an idea that terrifies her.

Physical Appearance

Though not 'gifted' with the same demon blood that her older sister Alida possesses, Shyla is beautiful in her own way. She stands average height for a woman with a curvaceous build. A distinguishing physical characteristic is her sizable bust, which she takes pains to hide from others as it is a source of extreme embarrassment for her. Her hair is perpetually died a bright shade of pink, and she tends to dress in cheery colors, particularly vibrant shades of yellow and blue.

History

Shyla is the middle child of three siblings. While her oldest sister is infamous at this point in time for having been one of Cardinal's most dangerous and successful villains in the past, Shyla herself has a comparatively unremarkable life story. Growing up in the shadow of her outgoing and confident older sister suited her just fine for a time, but when word of Alida's exploits as a power-wielding evil-doer began to spread, she became even more reclusive. While the other members of her family have eventually recognized Alida's attempts to atone for her past actions, Shyla quietly nurtures a grudge against her older sister and has not spoken to her in many years. The remainder of her family speculate that this grudge is rooted in the difficult and dangerous times they as a family faced at the height of Alida's criminal career. At several points in time they were taken into protective custody, with the Compass Guard fearing that those affected by Alida's crimes would retaliate against her family.

After several years had passed and Alida's exploits were no longer the talk of the day, things seemed to calm down for a time. It was during this interval between Alida's escapades that Shyla enrolled in college and began pursuing her own dreams. Presently, she rests her head in South City and has recently begun a career as a veterinarian. Still timid and withdrawn, she has only one person that would call her a friend. Despite being difficult to approach or deal with in any real capacity, she is still respected by her peers for the kindness she shows her patients, as well as her impeccable record when it comes to diagnosing and treating virtually any illness or injury. With Alida's shadow having been pulled from over her head, it seems she is free for the first time in her life to live as her own woman. Only time will tell.
