Name: Obo
Race: Namek
Origin: New Namek
Type: Competitive
Status: Playtesting

Appearance

Obo is a chubby Namekian mage from the Dragon Caste. He casually wears the robes of his profession, but when the situation calls for it, he is not above dressing in other fashions, such as like an Earth businessman, or in a swimming suit (ew).

Fighting Style

This Namek is a strong pacifist; he values life and peace above all. Hence, though he is a powerful mage, his magic centers around protecting and healing others, with a secondary focus on making fighting around him difficult. He has few, if any, powers that do lasting damage.

Techniques

Protect (Basic - 1)
An adjustable form of Barrier. Its default form is a skintight barrier, but the caster can place it on other objects and people he touches, besides himself, and can shift whom the barrier is cast on by having the current barrier bearer touch the next person to receive it (or vice versa) and concentrating for one post. The caster can also concentrate for a post and change the skintight form into a bubble form (or vice versa) of up to 50 feet in diameter (expanding at 50% MagPL speed). Finally, the caster can lock the bubble form in place, basing it on a single spot, by concentrating for a post. While rooted in this way, the bubble takes 1 damage for every 3 concussive force applied to it. The barrier protects for 400% MagPL durability.
Malleable upgrade - Obo can use a single focus action to simultaneous execute any number of eligible focus action options with Protect. Additionally, he may also do this when the spell is being cast, if the barrier does not take concentration-breaking damage in the same post.
Sleep (Basic - 0)
The caster sprays a short stream of clouds (not actually streaming) at 50% MagPL speed + 50% MagPL virtual speed that can affect up to one full target OR up to five DV or Adventure minions at the same time, making them sleepy. Affected targets instantly act as though their stamina pools were reduced (in total) by 200% caster's MagPL, for 5 posts. Targets who would not have stamina left after the reduction fall magically asleep for the duration of the spell, unable to take actions, though any effects they have active remain active. Taking any damage, regardless of whether the target is asleep, will cause the spell to end for that target. Once the spell has finished, full normal stamina use is restored, and sleepers awaken.
Stun (Basic - 1)
A Basic Magic version of Stun, with a 3 post duration and the 2x PL modifier.
Dispel (Basic - 1)
This spell counts as double its charge against any energy manifestation. If its charge is greater, the manifestation ceases to exist. The exclusion is durability effects, though any secondary effect attached to that durability effect can be targeted and dispelled. Effects with no set duration, such as Levitate are also affected. In this instance, the charge of Dispel is compared to the natural charge of the owner of the spell.
Tongue of Serpents (Basic - 0)
When Obo casts this spell on himself, his words carry enormous, magically enhanced weight. Even his foes are forced to listen, as they are fooled into perceiving him as a wise and respected figure, regardless of how they felt beforehand.
After Tongue of Serpents is cast, Obo gains access to a temporary ranged attack with his voice for five posts, which manifests as a huge dragon head image that travels at 100% MagPL and does not stop when it strikes one or more targets. If it strikes any foes (or allies, if he deems it necessary), their current and maximum durabilities and staminas are reduced by 25% and 50% MagPL, respectively. If the spell ends and is not immediately recast, all penalties incurred by it thusfar are reversed.
In character, the attack causes a character to lose the will to fight. They will become less and less willing to exert their utmost efforts, and to bear pain and frustration in order to continue fighting. Thus, this spell does not harm people so much as it makes others not want to be hurt or tired more. If a character is healed or restores stamina above the reduced maximums caused by this spell, those benefits still occur, but the excess amount is unavailable while the spell is in effect. If a character is reduced to below zero stamina or durability while under the effect of this technique, they do not pass out or die; instead they simply give up, becoming overwhelmed by the compulsion to either flee or surrender. At such a point, even if the spell ends, the effects will not be reversed until the end of the scene -- the character's will is considered broken. Should Obo's allies choose not to honor the surrender or accept the foe's flight, the character will still have the spell's robbed durability and stamina available to use, but will make every possible effort to continue to flee or surrender, rather than fight.
This is a mental effect that pivots upon spoken words. Characters with mental resistance, such as Psions, may apply the resistance to this technique. Additionally, characters that are incapable of understanding Obo's words will be unaffected by this spell.

Levitation (Basic - 0)
Lesser Healing (Basic - 0)
Speedcast

Spaceship (Item)
Obo owns a Namekian spaceship. It has no powered abilities beyond being able to ferry passengers and limited freight across the stars rapidly.

Description

Obo was the chief of a small village of Nameks, on their homeworld. Life had been peaceful for them for a long time -- a peace they owed greatly to the people of Earth. Meanwhile, Earth continued to suffer one villain after another, one catastrophe after another, and because of their capable power wielders, most outside powers had decided that they did not need help. Worse still, some thought of their times of peril as potential opportunities for invasion. This sort of talk was preposterous for Obo, and after several years of lecturing to his peers and villagers that young Namekians should step up to their obligation and aid the people of Earth, he decided he would follow his own advice and move there, himself. He received the blessing of the Namekian high council, and took one of their spaceships to Earth, immediately.

Though Namekians -- particularly of the Dragon Caste, as he was -- were generally wise, they lacked raw information about the outside world. Obo now finds himself in a strange, foreign world he can do naught but attempt to understand under a Namekian mindset. Still, his mirthful and generous personality are sure to bring him a long way.
