Appearance

The most notable thing about Aethaen, physically, is that he's blind. While once blind, Aethaen has since cured himself of that through the application of his powers. Despite his now-perfect sight, he occasionally wears a pince-nez.

He does not have an excessively muscular build, although he appears reasonably well-muscled, more so than one would expect of an average doctor, but less than one would expect of the average ki wielder. He normally wears monk-like robes or kimonos, often in bright colours. As a healer, the robes serve an extra purpose. Plenty of cloth for bandages to be ripped off of.

Aethaen stands five feet, ten inches tall. He weighs in at about two hundred sixty pounds, but looks significantly lighter -- his muscles are significantly more dense than the average human's, due to his bioengineering ways.

Powers

Aethaen wields both ki and psionic powers, in balanced measure with each other. His primary technique abilities focus on complete regeneration and healing, as well as the improvement of the body past typical norms. He even has the ability to prevent death from being permanent, under the correct circumstances. Due to his prior physical blindness, he also has excessively precise senses, with both his ki and psionic abilities.

Biography

Aethaen was born to Michelle and Keiko D'Argente. Neither of them were wielders of power. The limits of their knowledge of martial arts was Keiko's tai chi hobby. However, both of them were involved in medicine. Michelle was a doctor, and Keiko a nurse. Unfortunately, both of them are currently deceased, having died when Aethaen was 23, shot during a bank robbery. As an only child, and at that mature age, Aethaen inherited all his parents' earthly possessions. As medical professionals, they were fairly well paid, and it was not an inconsiderable estate. Money, however, was not what Aethaen was focusing on at the time. Several years before, a man had come to pay his family a visit, having sensed Aethaen's potential as a ki-wielder. Aethaen agreed to train under him for a time, and for several months, that is what he did, learning the basics of harnessing ki and fighting with it. However, he did not wish to become a fighter. His parents were medical professionals, and that is what he planned on doing. He wished to heal people, not harm them. So, he sought out other options. And eventually, he found one. He left his first teacher on relatively friendly terms, having learnt some valuable defensive techniques from him, said goodbye to his parents, and left for a small monastery. He was there, at the monastery, when his parents were killd, and it was there that he met his true mentor -- one who could teach him how to heal, through ki. His knowledge of anatomy and biology was already excellent, and his training proceeded well. Now, he has left the monastery and returned to West City, his hometown to see what is to be done with the world.

Besides being able to heal through ki, Aethaen was well-trained in more mundane versions of medicine. He found himself possessed of herbal knowledge of many plants found on Terra, and gained training in the 'modern' techniques of medicine as well, such as basic field surgery. He doesn't necessarily have to rely on his more unique abilities, thus, to cure some wounds... although the mundane methods, of course, usually take longer.

When he first moved into the wider world, it was during the time of Zann and the Golems. While he preferred pacifism, he saw the vast destruction being wrought by this animated things, and saw his way clear to helping fight to defeat them. Aethaen was present at the final battle of that saga, and saw Mike Jones Jr. face down the cosmic chessmaster, Zann-ion.

After that, during the events known as Namek, Revisited, Aethaen journeyed to New Namek in the company of a few good friends -- Violet Shuraba, a fellow ki wielder and healer, and her son, Crimson Kasima, were among them. He fought against the pirate Lex to recover the Dragonballs, and was able to heal his allies in a few crucial times to help swing the battle in the direction of Earth's forces. After his departure in the aftermath of those events, Aethaen would find himself returning to New Namek later, however. In the defensive exchange program then began, Aethaen spent time amongst the Nameks, learning their ways and language while assisting in defending their planet. It was also during that time that he learnt the art of psionics from them, adding another formidable power to his capacity. It was not long before Aethaen had mastered the basics of healing with his mental powers, and the precise control it granted him allowed him to move on to more formidable challenges -- such as the repair of his eyesight, and the total improvement of his body.

Aethaen was not closely involved in the events of the Golden Dawn. While he healed some fighters that were dealing with that trouble, he was spending much of his time among the mortal people of Cardinal, healing them instead. This gave him extensive practice, and also assisted in improving the reputation of power wielders among the general public to some small degree. Due to the events of Golden Dawn, some had believed that power wielders had become obsolete, being outmoded by the IMP forces. Aethaen helped to combat the rising tide of opinion that power wielders were entirely dangerous and untrustworthy people.

During Etiquette of Reform, Aethaen spent the vast majority of his time aboard Deius Castle. Since the start of the Tenkaichi Budoukai aboard it, he had worked there at each tournament as a medic, plying his trade for the betterment of the participating fighters, to ensure that none might accidentally die. Deius Castle was used as a secure infirmary during the hideous battle on ARCHIE III, and Aethaen spent his time as chief medic well. When it came time for the final battle against the Chorus, Aethaen reluctantly joined into the fray, unleashing powerful combat abilities few had suspected he had possessed, destroying one of the copies of Gekijou, the Chorus commander, in a single powerful blast. He also used one of the abilities he had learnt on New Namek, Splitform, well, to split himself into three equal copies, allowing himselves to operate three of the crucial consoles simultaneously. He was also able to heal Earth's forces directly on the scene, which was his major impetus for joining in -- he had feared that should the battle go badly for some, there would not be enough time for them to be brought back to him at the infirmary.

Currently, Aethaen continues to base himself out of Deius Castle's infirmary, operating as the chief medic of the castle. He heals all who come to him, regardless of alignment, deeds, or power. When few come to the castle infirmary, he has been known to visit the hospitals, particularly in Central City, and wipe out whole wards of illnesses at once.
