Current events
This article is to contain a record of important events, whether created by a player or by a plot event. Things should focus on events of note beyond a single character's purview -- what they had for breakfast is not, a villain wiping out a town is. If it would appear in a newspaper, generally speaking, this is a suitable place for it. Please date all events, for sorting purposes -- newer events should go at the top, and older events at the bottom.

Little Guys Tread Upon
On Sunday evening, an aspiring group of technological experts laboring diligently on a project that has only been related to the media as 'Echelon,' met an unfortunate road block. Two women, unidentified but presumed to be power-wielders, entered a laboratory based in East City and outright stole all information relevant to the product the men and women had been designing. Though the scientists have been surprisingly tight-lipped with authorities, general grumblings have been sent in Empirical Industries' direction. No clear connection can be gleaned with how uncooperative the individuals involved are being, though some are beginning to speculate...
Two men were injured in the attack, and both were reportedly in stable condition a few hours later.

McEathon Arrested!
Late Friday afternoon, one of the nation’s most controversial figures, Brian McEathon, contacted the press to inform them that he was going to turn himself over to the authorities. There is video coverage which will be aired tonight on the eleven o’clock news that features a well dressed Mr. McEathon walking calmly up the steps of the Municipal Building in Capital City. He was arrested just before six and was taken to an undisclosed location.
Channel Seven news anchor, Malinda Jones, managed a short interview with Mr. McEathon just before his arrest; he is quoted as saying: “I’ve always felt that laws are here for a reason and that everyone should follow them, I’m just sorry I didn’t do this sooner.†Stay tuned for updates on the McEathon case at eleven.

Succubus Reemerges!
After a lull in activity, the unnamed succubus that most citizens of East and South City are quite familiar with appeared off the coast of East along with at least ten other power-wielding demons. Though their presence was detected some ten miles off, allowing the personnel at Moody Ranger Base a few moments of preparation, other power-wielders did not come on to the scene until the order to withdraw from the base was given. Though the complete destruction of the base was prevented as a human, Saiyan, and demihuman stalled the attackers long enough for more powered help to arrive, the damage done is extensive. The base is reporting that until repairs can be made and more supplies can be requisitioned, the location is considered MICAP, or mission-incapable.
There were no fatalities during the attack, though one of the power-wielders on the scene, who had volunteered to spend time training the body of mortal Rangers stationed at Moody RB, was incapacitated by what appeared to be the leader of the raid. It is reported that he was taken to Deius, and has recovered fully from his injuries.

Narrow Escapes!
Yet another museum has been pillaged in West City today, as the Black Knights slated their blood-lusts for valuable artifacts. Reports from the authorities state that several people were severely hurt in this attack, spectators all correlate in the supposition that it was, in fact, the leader of the Black Knights, who narrowly escaped. The museum officials have not released a list of the stolen items so far. A Saiyan woman was found with her fingerprints over an artifact, and its damaged case inside the museum, and she has been detained for questioning by the Ranger Guard. Little is known about her involvement with the Black Knights.

Black Knights End Drug Cartel
Late tuesday morning, a well-known gang stronghold in West City was destroyed by none other than the Black Knights. The gang, which was led and populated with known demi-human criminals, was manufacturing illicit drugs in an abandoned warehouse for sale in the surrounding neighbourhood, when the Black Knights appeared and blew it up. A woman and a man were reported to have attempted to thwart the Black Knights, but investigators have since seen that one of them was severely harmed. Authorities are looking for leads in order to find the Knights, and the heroes in question. By the end of the battle another full city block was decimated by the Knights. Was it cleaning the streets, or racial cleansing? Only the Black Knights know for sure.

Demolition or Destruction of the Unfittest?
The Black Knights terrorized Central City Saturday afternoon with mass robbery and the damage of massive amounts of demolition crews on schedule to destroy some old buildings. Unlike the escalation of the past few occurances, the Black Knights allowed all safe passage as they worked, until three ruthless demi-humans tried their hands, and forced a battle. The houses were gutted, and no one died during the raid.

Central City Chaos
The Black Knights have struck again! The band of criminals have continued with their targetting of demi-humans and aliens around Cardinal with dismal results from the power wielding community. In the last raid, only the Black Knight himself and two of his underlings took to the scene murdering and causing mayhem as they went through a two block section of Central Capital's lower income area thursday night. One avenger, a reptilian demi-human, was said to oppose the Black Knight's massacre, but nothing is known about his identity or whereabouts. Gross collateral damage reported.

Slaughter in West
A night of mourning for West City, as the Black Knights have attacked their second bustling city block in two days, nigh on levelling several buildings in a Saiyan-rich area of West City. Scaling up from the usual allowance for the mortal populace to vacate their chosen battle places, the main objective of the attack seemed to be the large-scale slaughter of Saiyans and demi-humans, as most of the human population of the area were allowed to escape the onslaught. The few witnesses left were able to see five power wielders combatting the Black Knight menace, but the leader and his band of knights escaped once again. Authorities are making the capture and punishment of this lethal menace one of their priorities. Close to 100 Saiyans and demi-humans are thought to be deceased due to the attack.

Monsters in Central, City Block Leveled
Late friday evening, the yet unnamed armoured menace and his band of Knights threatened a bustling section of late-night cafe and restaurant goers, destroying mass amounts of property. But this band of Knights was not alone, as another more sinister enemy arose from the shadows in an attempt to feast on the living. The band of Knights fought back, along with Ranger Guard Carson Andraeus, and civilian Brian McEaton, but seemed to prey on the heroes as well. The Knights escaped as half a city block was completely levelled, and three blocks in either direction had broken windows, small time damage from the resulting shockwave. Authorities believe the Knights were responsible for the explosion. The monstrous unknown humanoid fiend escaped, and is considered extremely dangerous.

Exodus!
Without warning, a massive storm struck the waterfront district of East City in the early evening on January 14th. The storm was so severe that all aircraft within 200 miles were routed away from it, some set in holding patterns while others were forced to land elsewhere. Amid the confusion, a three-square-mile chunk of property, centered on Titanacorp's head office, lifted up and flew away.
No missing persons have been reported, and despite the scale of the event there were few injuries, no deaths, and surprisingly little property damage, save for the gaping triangular hole left in a heavily trafficked area of East City.

Lost History
Early Saturday night, before the West City Technological Museum closed its Early Communications exhibit, a band of Knights, led by a seven foot tall man clad in what looked to be antiquated armour, broke in and stole several priceless artifacts. Police on the crime scene said it was calculated, albeit theatrical, and much of the Museum was damaged in the attack. Dr. Troy Zonas, Chair of the West City University Archaeology department and owner of the publishing company Heorot-Scylding, called the incident "A shameful excuse for humanity to witness" and volunteered several hundred thousand zenny to help repair the Museum.

New Threat?
Around 7 PM there was an unknown attack on West City's federal reserve. No one claims to have seen anything of who or what had caused it, but a mortal who wishes to remain anonymous said that it was some kind of demon, with two demonic beings with him. He also notes that a demihuman and some other mage-being fought with the demon before he escaped.
The reserves totalled up the monetary losses, but those numbers were not released by press time.

Ashkadros Destroyed!
Riots broke out in the aftermath of a special SAF announcement today. A SAF Media Affairs officer announced at a press conference that a special unit of SAF members had penetrated the lair of the lich Ashkadros and destroyed both him and his means of return, making the world a much safer place. However, it appears that the destruction of the lich has not resulted in the immediate decay of his foul magic, for there have been reports of mindless undead wandering the country. Citizens are advised to be cautious, and to report any undead sightings to the Ranger Guard.
(While few are aware of the true facts, the SAF did not actually do this. Instead, it was a unit of the Kamikanatsuchi, a militant religious order, founded by Padre Stefan Asteriadis in the aftermath of the Null, dedicated to hunting down creatures both undead and demonic. The only ones that know the true facts are high-ranking SAF officers and high-ranking Cardinal governmental officials.)

High-Stakes Battle At Fort Fallenwood
Late yesterday evening, fighting broke out in Fort Fallenwood as a group of uniformed, militant martial artists assaulted the Cardinalian Bullion Depository. The installation had recently been updated with anti-power wielder defenses, but the terrorists were somehow able to bypass them, according to non-military power wielders who had responded to the scene.
The intent of the attackers was unknown, though many speculated they planned to steal large amounts of gold bullion from the Depository. The Ranger Guard were reportedly unable to respond immediately to the attack, so Ranger officials broadcasted a general assistance request to unassociated powerwielders on the PAD system. Several power wielders responded promptly, and the threat was eventually repelled.
However, rumors are circulating in the Government District that the PAD message may be condemned, due to extensive collateral damage and serious misconduct believed to be directly caused by the marshalled militia. An anonymous source reports that due to uncontrolled fighting within the building, extensive damage was caused to the defenses and certain valuable assets within. One human power wielder responding to the PAD call was even incapacitated by a demihuman would-be militia defender, said an official from St. Michael's Hospital, causing an increase in the already recently elevated fighting between human and demihuman racial groups.
The Ranger Guard confirmed they had secured one of the responding power wielders for questioning, but declined to release the person's identifying information, and the reasons for questioning.
The terrorist group that attacked the Depository was identified as appearing to be the same group who perpetrated several other massed burglary attacks earlier this year, including the kidnapping of Councilwoman Goodthorpe, who was later rescued by a good samaritan power wielder. The military stated that it did not yet have any solid leads on the group, but told reporters that yesterday's attack would inevitably accelerate the investigation. "Every time they make a move," said Command Sergeant Major Arnold Blackraggen, of the Ranger Guard, "they take a chance of being discovered. We're watching and preparing for a time when they make a mistake, with both eyes open, and that's when we'll be able to bring this terrorist group to justice."

Ingred Released on Bail, Good and Bad on Both Sides.
Current Events columnist for the Central City Post Zad Ingred was released this morning on 500,000 zenny bail. By anonymous means, the columnist had acquired a video tape of a human killing Odayakana Kyoujin, a porcupine demi. His vitriolic column caused his arrest the next day by Central City police. A statement from the Cardinal Prosecutor's Office was released, stating their expectation of a quick trial and a certainty of a guilty verdict. Ingred refused to comment to reporters as he was apprehended from his office or when he was released from confinement. However sources say that he spoke briefly to a young man in a suit as the police arrived to arrest him. The man in the suit had quickly disappeared and police have described him as a 'person of interest' in the case, beginning to search for his identity and current location.
Meanwhile, small uprisings have sprouted in various areas of suburbs surrounding several cities. Radical extremist groups, long considered the home of the rare wack-jobs and nutcases in racially-integrated Cardinal, seem to be targeting demi-humans more boldly now. They may even go as far as to vandalize newly-immigrated demi-humans' establishments. A few cases of aggravated assault on demi-humans by masked men have even been reported.

Murder or Justice?
A spat between an innocent human and a vicious porcupine-like demi-human turned into a deadly brawl for survival today in Central City. The incident was recorded by an anonymous citizen on their cellular phone and transferred to our newspaper where I received the footage. The demi-human, savagely displaying his supposed superior strength, attempted to impale the lone human with his quills. After several minutes of intense conflict the human walked away the victor. Now the true question is this. Was what he did right? I say ABSOLUTELY! Those beasts and brutes have no place on our furless lands! He was just defending his peace and the safety of humans everywhere! If you see this human pat him on the back, he did this world a favor. ~Zad Ingred, Central City Post Journalist.
