Alothin is, first and foremost, an Order Mage. He has an extensive list of capabilities, with perhaps his most notable ability his capacity to absorb damage, far in excess of what would typically be expected from one of his power level. He also has the capacity to hurl attacks for significantly more damage, and at significantly more speed, than would be expected, although this capability is not as well-developed as his defensive potencies.
Besides being an Order Mage, Alothin is also the Lord of Deius Castle. This gives him a certain amount of prestige in the power wielding community, as it makes him the obvious legitimate successor to Lord Lizardcage in running the Tenkaichi Budoukai tournaments. The castle is also, in and of itself, a formidable weapon and fortification, capable of reshaping itself internally, blocking teleportation, and firing tremendously powerful blasts of natural energy.
Alothin also possesses, as his personal asset, Empirical Industries and all its subsidiaries and facilities. This gives him enormous financial and industrial capacity, as well as the political clout necessary to make his voice heard to the Directional Council and other important personages. While it is by no means an absolute voice, as Empirical Industries is one of the largest corporations, public or private, in Cardinal history, with a corresponding influence on the public, it is rare for his voice to be entirely ignored.
While Alothin rarely takes a hand in the day-to-day affairs of Empirical Industries in general, he does act as the head of the Psionic Militia, or PsiMil, a special group of psions recruited into Empirical Security to, officially, deal with powered threats to Empirical assets. Unofficially, it is Alothin's means to support and train power wielders to act as a team in the defense of the Earth in general.
