Appearance

Faina is a demihuman wolf from North City. She is tall by human standards, for a woman, standing just two inches below six feet. Though not exactly muscular or stocky, she fills the frame well. Her facial features are sleek, accenting her tufted ears and long, bushy tail. While a lifetime spent in North City has accustomed her to the blistering cold, she still dresses for the weather, preferring long dresses and heavy coats. Such attire does not seem to bother her even when the weather would call for something much lighter.

Powers

Faina's spiritual power is the result of an accident of violence that left her body broken and her soul crippled (both were later restored by Nadia Ionaz). At the age of twenty-two, she was struck down by an errant blast of frozen ki during a raid of her home village. Though she, as a mortal, should have been killed, she lived on, preserved by a slumbering spirit brought violently to life by the attacks. The injuries to her soul have had lasting effects.

Her ki is inverted; rather than create friction and heat, it ignites into super-chilled moisture that can harden into ice on the instant. Upon discovering this, Faina soon learned to apply it combatively; during combat, she is capable of conjuring blasts of ice and chilling the air near her to such a degree that objects are slowed drastically just by coming close. She also demonstrates the ability to create items out of ice, as well as weapons.

Faina is also moderately skilled with the use of glaives, which she can also create from her ki.

Biography

Faina was born in a small village several hundred miles outside of North City. As the land is all but uninhabitable, it has created a subculture where 'feral' tribe-like arrangements of demihumans exist and live in seclusion. Her life was uneventful until several days before she was to marry. Seeking a treasure possessed by a member of her village, several ruthless treasure hunters laid seige to the village, which consisted wholly of mortals. A good deal of it was razed, and many were killed. Faina was one of those left for dead in the aftermath, struck down by a bolt of frozen ki.

Inexplicably, she survived an attack that should have reduced a mortal to a mass of crystalline shards, instead entering a coma from which her elders could not wake her. Due to the intervention of The Initiative, Nadia Ionaz was present to prevent them from killing her when she would not wake from the coma. After accepting responsibility for her welfare, she was spirited away to The Initiative's headquarters, where she spent a month in her coma before waking.

Upon waking and learning the truth of the matter, she realized it would be impossible to return home when her village had declared her dead and moved on. Instead, she became a member of Nadia's vigilante group, and spent months following in their footsteps to challenge and punish powered criminals. In the end, she discovered this lifestyle had no greater appeal to her than death, and in a fierce moment of self-revelation, she disillusioned herself with the group of vigilantes and struck out on her own, truly alone. Armed with a new outlook on life and a clear new direction as well, she moved to participate in the 2008 Tenkaichi Budokai.

After a fierce uphill struggle to claim the highest position in her weight class, Faina has decided herself fully capable to pursue the one thing that has never stopped haunting her memories.

She has begun hunting treasure on her own, determined that her path will eventually cross the path of the man who nearly killed her if enough time passes.
