Overview

This land is ruled by the Kalar Rythor, an ancient lich-king. While much of the borders of Drovinia are highly contested, and often times not enforced. Rythor claims the ice covered mountain region that covers much of the southern base of D'Hennex. Much of the land is inhospitably cold, and one could walk for days without encountering civilization, there are in fact a number of permanent residents of the tundra.

Inhabitants

Jvor'l

The Jvor'l, more commonly known as walrus men, are a very large species. A full grown male can weigh around half a ton. They stand on two thick legs, the feet of which are finned, and clawed allowing them both speed in water, and purchase on the icy slopes of the mountainous region. The hands are likewise shaped, but are much more supple, and have a very flexible opposable thumb which appears strangely human. During the winter their tough hide is covered in a thin fur that is shed upon the coming of the warmer months. Their faces are very similar to that of a walrus, thus the name 'walrus men'

These creatures are surprisingly intelligent, and imploy both weaponry, tools for survival, and a primitive form of magic. They are begrudgingly subservient to the Kalar of the region, but generally leave him alone, and are thus left alone.

The male of the species, as well as the female, tend to be very territorial and aggressive. You don't want to mess with a tribe of these beasties.

Koel Reuzen

These are creatures thought to be only of myth. But for good reason there are only a few thousand left in the entire world mostly due to their own self destructive nature of tribal warfare, and their primitive religion that demands both sacrifices, and cannibalism. Most people have only heard of these creatures in legends, and even then they would have been described as Ice Giants, a primitive species that resides in the glacial caves, and mountains that dot the lower region of D'Hennex.

The legends are for the most part, accurate, but only because these creatures have no depth, and are not even thought to be sentient. Their lives revolve around violence and destruction, they have been used by the Kalars in wars past, but they are incredibly difficult to tame, and tend to not follow orders, even when these orders are coupled with a lash.

The Ice Giants have their name because they are huge creatures, most are just above twenty feet tall. A full grown male can weigh, easily, over two tons. They have multiple hearts. Simply because one heart would not be sufficient to pump blood through the beast's massive body. They are technically warm blooded, but their maintainable body temperature is only a few degrees above freezing. Ice will often form in thick chunks on their fur, thus giving them their name.

Gletsjer Wanderers

These are the only humans that inhabit this desolate region. They have adapted quite well they are generally endowed with a thick layer of fat, and are shorter, which allows them to maintain they high body temperature that humans require. This clan of nomads travels the tundra, skirting the mountains and staying as far away from the Koel Reuzen, and the Jvor'l as possible, although battles between them do take place every so often.

This group of people practice magic in many different forms, a combination of ice magic, druidic spells, and even necromancy.

The Gletsjer long ago swore their allegiance to Kalar Rythor, and will march next to his undead army whenever he calls them.

Skeletal Horde

This is perhaps the largest group of inhabitants in Verdrode Koude, they are the animated skeletons of Kalar Rythor, and are totally loyal to him. Legions of these skeletons will walk aimlessly through the tundra, and about the mountains.

Geography

The land is covered by mountains and tundra.

Rythor's Tomb

The Kalar, long ago, transformed his once tomb into a giant stone keep, which was magically perched atop one of the highest mountains in the region. The tomb is totally covered in ice, both inside and out, so much so that many assume that it is made of ice. It is the residence of a powerful lich-king, it has many strange chambers, and is constantly in some state of magical flux.
