Succubi

These are the official character rules for succubi.

Common Names: Succubus, succubi, temptress, demoness.
Class: Minor Race
Tech Bias: Good
Available Power Types: Ki

Major Racial Advantages:

Spiritual Bond: In most Cardinalian popular culture, succubi are foul demonic harlots who attack the weak of heart and drain away their life essence and free will through the use of weaponized pleasure. While this is not completely untrue, the vast majority of succubi do not survive by taking what they want by force. Instead, they are typically drawn to a single source of spiritual or magical power that stands out among other powers, and attempt to pair bond with it. This pair-bonding typically takes the form of a deep friendship or romantic relationship, though this is not always the case.

While trickery and temptation may be used to coerce the bonding, it may not be taken by force. Though a succubus may have up to three pair bonds active, a character may only be bound to one succubus at a time. The bond may be broken at any time for any reason by the bonded character. Succubi may bond with ki-wielders and magic-users, but not psions (as psions are resistant to their charms).

While the bond is active (and it must be noted in the bonded characters’ tags), the bonded character has his or her gain rate reduced by .5%. In exchange, whenever they are both in a scene, the bonded character may calculate all of his or her gimmie-level abilities and base stats (excluding durability) off of the combined PL of himself/herself and the succubus they are bonded with. The succubus does not gain this boon. Instead, any form of ki or magic energy emanating from the bonded character and directed at the succubus is instead absorbed. It may either be projected outward as an energy-based bubble barrier with durability equal to the absorbed energy, or it may be absorbed directly into a secondary stamina pool ala Stamina Call. In both cases, these additional stamina and durability pools are capped at 200% of the succubus’ KiPL, though this may be improved upon with original techniques.

If a succubus finds herself without any pair bond at all, she will slowly lose 10% of her KiPL each real day that passes. When her KiPl reaches zero, she returns to HFIL and is considered incapped for 20 days. After these 20 days pass, she may return to the realm of Earth at full power and attempt to find another pair bond, with the process repeating until she has bonded successfully. Brand-new succubi are given a 7 day grace period from the date of their approval where this weakness does not come into play.

Minor Racial Advantages:

The Ties that Bind: Though they are immortal, succubi differ from most other forms of demon in that they frequently form strong attachments to mortal beings. Being so intimately involved with the mortal races can alter the succubus’ perceptions over time, giving them insight and perspective they might not otherwise have had. Succubi are capable of achieving an epiphany in the same way humans are.

Ethereality: Though demons by nature, succubi are also capable of taking on an ethereal, ghost-like form if they are pair-bonded to an individual. In this instance, they may follow the individual around unseen and unsensed, revealing their presence only when they choose to. Techniques that break PL masking of any effectiveness will penetrate this disguise, though the efficacy of Ethereality may be improved through original techniques. In addition, psions are always aware of them.

Major Racial Disadvantages:

Say My Name: Due to their tendency to become close with, and eventually learn to trust mortalkind, succubi are less likely to guard their true name from others than other demons. This is particularly bad for them considering that given their emotional nature, they are easy to control. Any ability meant to take control of a demon is twice as effective when used against a succubus. If a character somehow discovers a succubus’ name, it is all the need to completely control her. Within reason (as decided upon mutually by the MUNs in question), a succubus must obey the commands of any character that comes to know her true name, even if they put her life in danger.

Scorned by the Light: As they are demons first and foremost, succubi are susceptible to holy power, or any ability meant specifically to deal enhanced damage to demons. If struck by an attack designated as holy, the damage dealt to them is doubled, without additional stamina being invested on part of the attacker. The same goes for attacks meant to deal enhanced damage to demons, though in both instances the succubus cannot take more than x3 the attack’s base damage from these two weaknesses.

Minor Racial Disadvantages:

Spiritual Attunement: Though a sort of ‘evolution’ as allowed succubi to feed off of magic, they cannot wield it, nor feed off of or wield psionic energy. All succubi begin play with a KiPL, and may not learn to use any other form of PL.
