Society: Libram

This common technique is a "Society Technique".
Only qualifying members of the listed organization may research this technique.

Description

As opposed to most Society techniques, it is the learning of this technique that renders a person a member of the group, as the sole thing these mages have in common is their ability to call upon the Libram to instantly cast spells and harness abilities they otherwise lack.

Logistics

This technique can only be learnt either from a character which already possesses it, or from an instructional book. Books are not available in stores, but have appeared in places such as the Arcaneum's library.

Once this technique is mastered, the character may cast any spell or use any passive ability listed as a Libram Society Technique. In order to do so, they expend 1 TD to access a Basic spell, 2 TD to access an Advanced spell (or 1 TD to access an Advanced spell which they possess the Basic form of), or 3 TD to access a passive technique. This grants them access to that single technique for the duration of the scene in which they access it, and it operates at their relevant PL, as if they had learnt it themselves. The TD cost may either come from TD they have stored, or from the TD that they will gain upon completion of the scene.

Should they ever expend sufficient TD on a single technique (for spells, accessing their Basic and Advanced version is combined, as it is the same spell) that they could've learned it instead, at its base day cost (no technique bias applied), or their own bias-applied cost, whichever is greater (so Poor and Dismal bias mages can't learn them faster via this technique), they become sufficiently familiar with the technique that they achieve automatic mastery of it, and need no longer access the Libram to utilize it.

This technique enables a subconscious form of communication between each individual and the Living Libram itself (users cannot communicate with each other). While this does not permit telepathic communication, it does allow needs to be communicated, so if a user requires a certain sort of ability to be added to the Libram, that can be communicated accurately.

Mastering this technique costs 8 base days.

All expenditure of TD to access spells and abilities, and spell requests, should be reported to Hroefn.
