Teaching Regimen

Gideon's teaching regimen is divided into three levels.

Beginner

These lessons are for students with little to no understanding of MagicPL, and can be used to grant them one if they are without it. Most students will be beyond this level, and may skip it if they qualify. The student is allowed, and encouraged to rename these Spells upon learning them.

Level I

This is the most basic of magical learning.

  • Required Lessons
    • Basic Magical Blast - This creates a basic blast attack dealing Natural Charge in damage at 50%PL in speed.
  • Optional Lessons
    • Elemental Blast - This allows the character to upgrade the Basic Magical Blast to Firebolt, Litbolt, or Icebolt

Level II

This further teaches the student on how to use magic to enhance their abilities, without utilizing a direct attack.

  • Required Lessons
  • Optional Lesson
    • Levitation Upgrade - This allows the user to upgrade the speed of Levitation.

Level III

The final level of the Beginner Regime. This teaches the student to use magic to protect themselves, and starts them on the first steps of the further realm of magic. Upon completing this level, the student is granted a MagicPL if they currently do not possess one.

  • Required Lessons
    • Barrier - This teaches the student the basic Bubble Barrier
  • Optional Lessons
    • Barrier Form - This allows the student to upgrade to a Skintight or Aura Barrier.
    • Barrier Strength - This allows the student to upgrade the strength of their chosen barrier type.
    • Speed Cast - This teaches the Speedcast CT.

Apprentice

This is the level that most students will be taught at. As he is aware that many students will already know some of these skills, he may choose to pass them beyond it without requiring a lesson. However, if they know the base form, but not an Optional lesson, they will be required to take an Optional Lesson. While the student has surpassed the Beginner level, they may still take any Optional Lessons from it as needed.

Again, the student is encouraged to put their personal theme and style to the spells. The Teacher will only teach the basics of how to utilize the magic, applying the finishing touches and name is up to the student.

Level I

This first level of apprenticeship is to teach the student the benefits of utilizing enchantments in their casting. It starts with teaching how to create a Magical Focus, and continues with teaching them how to use said Focus.

  • Required Lessons
    • Magical Focus - This teaches the user how to craft a magical focus item.
    • Magical Focus Proficiency - This teaches the user how to better use their focus item, gaining the first level of Weapon Proficiency with it.
  • Optional Lessons
    • Foci Improvement - This allows the user to add Ki Attack Kit upgrades to their focus.
    • Improved Magical Focus Proficiency - This allows the user to gain the rest of the Weapon Proficiency Levels.
  • Bonus Lessons
    • The Precipices - This teaches the user how to gain bonuses from the Arcaneum's Precipices.

Level II

This level teaches the student how to utilize their magic to enhance their own attributes, on both a temporary and permanent basis.

  • Required Lessons
    • Stamina Call - Teaches the CT Stamina Call
    • Mage Sight - This grants the user the ability to sense Magical energy in a more complete way.
  • Optional Lessons
    • Enhanced Stamina Call - Improves the strength of Stamina Call
    • Enhanced Mage Sight - Adds Ki and Psionics to Mage Sight
  • Bonus Lessons
    • All Seeing Eyes - Allows Power Concealment Breaking
    • Knowledge is Power - Allow sensing of Durability and Stamina remaining.

Level III

This is the final level of the Apprenticeship, and teaches the Student those final finishing touches so they can consider themselves a fully qualified wizard, witch, mage, sorceror, or whatever word they choose to apply to themselves. This is the difference between having an attack and barrier and utility technique, and putting it all together.

  • Required Lessons
    • Duelist’s Stance: Aggressive - This is a custom form of Focused Offense
    • Duelist’s Stance: Passive - This is a custom form of Focused Defense
    • Dual Casting - Allows the activation of two spells at once.
    • Wandless Casting - Allows the user to cast spells without somatic components.
  • Optional Lessons
    • Duelist’s Stance - Passive Upgrade - Improves the amount of defense granted by Duelist's Stance: Passive
    • Dual Casting Upgrade - Increase amounts of posts Dual Casting May be used for.
  • Bonus Lesson
    • Do Not Meddle in the Affairs of Wizards, for they are Subtle and Quick to Anger - Teaches the user the basics of a specialized Transformation Technique, which allows up to a 4x Multiplier.

Mastery Level

Upon reaching the end of the Apprenticeship, if the student in question is one of good character and quick witted enough, the teacher may continue to assist with their studies.

The Mastery Level Curriculum will be decided upon by the Teacher and Student if they qualify.

Grading Scale

  1. Outstanding - (O) Shows an excellent grasp of both the basics of the spell, and advanced or future possibilities, and ties the ability into other ones that the student has learned. If starting with a tech that qualifies, a character is assumed to have received this level. They get no discounts for it, however.
  2. Exceeds Expectation - (EE) Shows an above average grasp of the spell, getting the basics down and seeing a little of the upgrade potential.
  3. Acceptable - (A) Grasps the basics of the spell, but little else.
  4. Poor - (P) Barely manages to understand the basics. The character can no longer qualify for Outstanding on that spell. The Character must now complete an Optional Lesson of that Level to progress.
  5. Troll - (T) Completely fails to grasp even the most basic concepts. The character must succeed in a future lesson to learn the spell. Can no longer qualify for Exceeds Expectation on that spell. The Character must now complete an Optional Lesson of that Level to progress.

Benefits of Training

Technique Training

Upon receiving a grade, the Student gains the following benefits:

  1. Outstanding - A 25% Base Day Discount on the spell.
  2. Exceeds Expectation - A 15% Base Day Discount on the spell.
  3. Acceptable - A 5% Base Day discount on the spell.
  4. Poor - May learn the spell, but no discount.
  5. Troll - May not learn the spell.

Sparring

When sparring with the OT, a character can gain 10% MagicPL, modified by gain rate. ONLY MagicPL is granted gains when sparring with the OT.

School Details

The school is located in no particular place, the teacher finding the student when they are ready for a lesson. As it is often said, a Wizard is never early nor late, they arrive exactly when they mean to. He takes this quote quite seriously, and heaven help the person who tries to make him do something otherwise.

He does, however, spend a great deal of time at the Arcaneum, so as long as both he and the student are members of good standing there, they often will do lessons on the grounds. Losing membership in the Arcaneum is also a very good way to have him refuse to teach a student anymore.

The teacher will have up to 10 students at any one time, no more than one per MUN. The Teacher may, at any point, discontinue teaching a student due to IC actions.
