Words Upon a Tongue Confessed
Words Upon a Tongue Confessed
I await with open arms
The penalty of my affection;
I cannot kiss the girl I harm'd
For fear of Heaven's rejection.
So seemly are her shapely legs
Like unto Alexander, Hephaestion's thighs.
If I might be ruled by her,
Oh how unspeakable the sin!
I find within my soul the key to Heaven's gate,
Which so unlock and love's obliterate
When love, that holy gift from God
Comes not in form of man
Shall we not heed the coo of dove
And sigh, and falther and fall beneath this love?
Forebear my heart, Oh God of love
Devout me make to thy will be all
Upon this brow the thorned crown,
Place my cheek to slivered wood
And to my cross I bear my heart
Midst virgin hand and Father's throne.
That I may be ruled by the divine
Or in divinity, find her love sublime.
